Guardian Word of the Week: Focus

It’s easy to feel scattered as we deal with everything we have to do in a day. But we always have the power to choose our own focus.

Take a deep breath, let it out, and say the word “Focus” ten times, counting on your fingers each time:

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

When I did this, I found that I immediately wanted to do it again, so join with me in another round:

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

One of the definitions of Focus is “directed attention,” and just by saying the word we can direct our attention back to our own center.

After repeating it several times, I feel much calmer and more centered. Check in and notice what you feel in your body as we continue to engage with Focus:

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

Focus

I had originally thought I would be writing here about consciously directing our focus, but after engaging with the word this way, I feel that the energy of the word is a powerful kind of Medicine, all by itself:

Focus

Create a new relationship with the energy of focus this week, and let me know how it makes you feel!
