A Shortcut to Making Friends with Trees

I used to live in a neighborhood where all the front yards had several Trees.

I took a morning walk through the neighborhood every day, and as I did, I began to notice that even though I appreciated all the Trees, I felt drawn to some and not others.

Even though there were two beautiful Mimosa Trees on my walk, only one of them felt magical to me.

Of the many flowering fruit Trees that grew, a certain pair always caught my attention.

And there was one Tree that stood out most of all: a towering Cedar Pine Tree.

I felt such a wonderful energy coming from that Tree that I made sure to linger and send it love as I walked by.

The pine cones from this Tree looked like tiny wooden roses, and I picked one up every time I walked by so I could keep a part of the Tree with me.



One day as I was passing, I saw a woman in the yard watering flowers.

I stopped and said, “I love your Tree!”

She smiled and said, “We do, too!”

That’s when it hit me.

Maybe the reason I could easily feel a heart connection with some Trees was that other humans had paved the way, creating a bond with each Tree through their affection for it.

I now noticed that two cute little girls played in the yard with the pair of flowering Trees, and I imagined that the people who lived with the magical Mimosa Tree were probably connecting with it in some way.

I believe that with patience, persistence, and love you can make friends with any Tree in the world.

But try this now: Look around your neighborhood, open your heart to the Trees you see, and notice the ones that seem to “stand out” to you.

From now on, say a special hello and send love to these Trees every time you pass by.
